IGOPP Pays Tribute to Stephen A. Jarislowsky

The Institute for Governance of Private and Public Organizations (IGOPP) wishes to express its profound sadness following the passing of Mr. Stephen A. Jarislowsky on October 8, 2026, at the age of 101. The Institute extends its deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those affected by his loss.

A visionary entrepreneur, Mr. Jarislowsky had a remarkable career in the world of finance. His commitment to education, the community, and the arts, as well as the importance he placed on sound and ethical governance in organizations, both public and private, left a profound mark on Canadian society.

“Stephen Jarislowsky was a man of principle and conviction who believed deeply in the essential role of rigorous, responsible, and long-term oriented governance. His entrepreneurial spirit, generosity toward the community, and unwavering support for IGOPP made a decisive contribution to our mission and influence. We will always be grateful to him,” said Ms. Guylaine Saucier, Chair of IGOPP’s Board of Directors.

IGOPP honours the memory of a great builder whose achievements as an entrepreneur, philanthropic commitment, and steadfast advocacy for good governance practices will leave a lasting legacy.
