Louis Lévesque
Economist, lecturer and consultant
Mr. Lévesque began his career as an economist with the Government of Quebec in 1983, first at the Régie des assurances agricole and then at the Ministry of Finance. He joined Finance Canada in 1991 and, after rising through the ranks, was appointed associate deputy minister in 2004.
Mr. Lévesque was promoted to the rank of Deputy Minister in 2006, first to Intergovernmental Affairs at the Privy Council Office, then to International Trade and as personal representative of the Prime Minister and Sherpa for Canada at the G-20, and finally in 2012, at Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Canada, a position he held until his retirement from the federal public service in July 2015.
Subsequently, Mr. Lévesque first joined the International Economic Forum of the Americas and, in April 2017, he was appointed Director General of Finance Montréal, the Quebec financial sector cluster.
Since 2020, he has devoted himself to teaching and consulting. He chairs the Public Policy Committee of the Association of Quebec Economists and has been appointed Guest Fellow of CIRANO and Senior Fellow of the CD Howe Institute.
